Ruby Brown Mitchell, 97, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 3 PM Friday, November 15, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Frank Parr officiating. A private burial will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mrs. Mitchell was born July 7, 1916 the daughter of the late William Martin Brown and Maggie Roberts Brown. Mrs. Mitchell retired as head of school of Cosmetology from Columbus Technical School and she also owned and operated Mitchell Windham Academy in Macon, GA.
Other than her parents she was preceded in death by her husband; Cleveland Burns Mitchell, son; Howard C. Bell, and six siblings.
Survivors include three daughters; Gwen Bridges (Ronnie) of Columbus, Lynn White (Bill) of Midland, GA. and Shelley Montgomery (David) of Fortson, GA., sister; Hilda Free of Lake City, FL., sister-in-laws; Abert (Aaron) Jones of Eufaula, AL., Jeanette Cross of Ardmore, TN., Mary Wynn of St. Louis, MO. and Dot Mitchell of Knoxville, TN. ,ten grandchildren; David Howell Montgomery, Jr.(Kelly) of Columbus, GA, B. Mitchell Montgomery (Jennifer) of New York, William Alton White, Jr. of Midland, GA., Geary Mitchell White (Tammy) of Columbus, GA, Greg Bell (Amy) of Warner Robins, GA., Julie Anne Owen of New York, Lisa Michelle Owen of Atlanta,GA, Brandon Scott Bridges (Leigh Ann), Justin Brian Bridges (Beth), and Kathryn Bridges Sanders (Shane) all of Columbus, GA sixteen great - grandchildren; Will, CJ, Sally Lynn, Sara Ann, Margie Nell, Carter and Lilly Burns White, Hannah, Savannah, Wyatt, Reagan, Walker and Harrison Bridges, Monty and Jackson Montgomery and Emily Bell and numerous nieces and nephews.
