Rt. Fire Captain Dorsey "Fred" Welch 77, of Columbus, Georgia died Monday, March 30, 2020 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Due to the Health Crisis a private service will be held in Parkhill Cemetery.
Fred was born January 11, 1943 in Columbus, Georgia son of the late William E. and Sarah Kelly Welch. He retired from the Columbus Fire and EMS Department after 31 years of service and was a member of Cascade Hills Church. After his retirement, Fred spent his time taking care of his wife Carolyn who passed away in 2016.
Other than his parents, Mr. Welch was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn June Peters Welch, sister, Opal Marie Cherry and brother, Wyndell Wayne Welch.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Smith and Rene Roberts (John) all of Columbus, Ga., son Kevin Welch (Christy) of DE Pere, WI., Brother, William Greg Welch of Slocomb, Al., 5 Grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
