Royce Virgil Wood, 81, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Kindred Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Ms. Sharon Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Wood was born December 13, 1936 in Bonifay, FL son of the late Paisley M. Wood and Louise Bolin Hooper. He was raised in Columbus and was a 1955 graduate from Jordan High School. He was known as "The Bread Man" at Colonial Bakery where he retired after 30 years.
He loved music and cars. He played the guitar and drums. Mr. Wood also loved racing at the Phenix City Drag Strip.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Joyce Riles and nephew, Stacy Jones.
Survivors include his daughters, Rhonda Campbell (Anthony) of Smiths, AL and Sherry Wall of Prattville, AL, son, Shane Wood (Misti) of Dothan, AL, grandchildren, Scott Campbell (Jennifer), Kyle Campbell (Julie), Emma Wall, Katie Wall, Abby Wall, Ella Wood and Paden Wood, great grandchildren, Nathan Campbell, Mallory Campbell and Emily Campbell, sister, Nell Jones (Coy) of Phenix City, AL and Loudean Becchetti (Don) of Santa Rosa, CA, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
