Roy Poole Henderson

SSG (Ret) Roy Poole Henderson, 73, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, May 28, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, June 2, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a private interment at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the service, according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Henderson was born August 6, 1937 in Pulaski Co., Arkansas. He retired after twenty years in the U. S. Army and worked twenty years as a Deputy with the Muscogee County Sheriff's Department. He also coached baseball with South Columbus Boys Club for fifteen years. Mr. Henderson was preceded in death by his brother and two sisters.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Frances Henderson of Columbus, GA; son Russell G. Henderson (Kellie) of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Brian Henderson and Megan Henderson both of Columbus, GA and five brothers.
