Roy C. Gordon, 87, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday June 3, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM (EST) Friday June 6, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA, with Reverend Rudy Allen and Reverend Bill Ward officiating. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM (EST) at Little Sandy Ridge Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Ft. Deposit, AL. The grandchildren and great grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Gordon was born April 5, 1927 in Ft. Deposit, AL to the late Frank Edgar Gordon and Emmie Cates Gordon. He was a Merchant Marine. He worked for many tears as an Insurance salesman with National Security Life Ins. Co. and then later owned D&H Furniture for 25 years. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena Ruth Brown Gordon, sisters, Francis Stabler and Alma Ward.
Survivors include his sons, Ronald E. Gordon (Kathy) of Jones, AL, Rick C. Gordon (Petra) of Midland, GA, Rob Gordon (Mary Pate) of Phenix City, AL, sister, Dot Gordon of Montgomery, AL, brother-in-law, RB "Teat" Stabler (Eleanor) of Greenville, AL, grandchildren, Wesley Gordon (Vonda), Michael Gordon (Laurie), Melissa Chapman (Aaron), Cody Gordon, Ryan Gordon, Nicole Gordon, Chrissy Helmig (Jason), Steve Gordon (Crystal), Robyn Castillo-Matthews (Daniel), Zachary Gordon, Jacob Pate, Daniel Pate, great grandchildren, Nathan Gordon, Elizabeth Gordon, Tolan Chapman, Macy Gordon, Beatrice Gordon, Simon Gordon, Oliver Gordon, Alex Gordon, Bryan Gordon, Cora Helmig, Carly Helmig, Jase Helmig.
