Roy Donald Darsey, 63, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, December 9, 2010 at Columbus Hospice House.
A memorial service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, December 13, 2010 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Coates officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends following the service according to the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Darsey was born March 1, 1947 in Baltimore, MD son of Mildred Darsey Boggs of Phenix City, AL and the late Roy Thomas Darsey. He was a U.S. Army Veteran. He worked in Telecommunications at AFLAC for over twenty years and was a member of Edgewood Presbyterian.
Other than his mother, he is survived by his wife, Alice Reinel Darsey of Columbus, GA, children, Angela Jenkins (John) of Thomaston, GA and Catherine Athon (Kenneth) of LaGrange, GA, siblings, Glenda Hutchinson of Phenix City, AL, Carol Smith of Phenix City, AL, Larry Darsey (Elaine) of Box Springs, GA and Roy Ronald Darsey of Omaha, NE, and grandchildren, Darcie Jenkins and Connor Jenkins both of Thomaston, GA, and Oliver Athon, III of LaGrange, GA.
