Rosemary Veronica (Driscoll) Papaleo

Rosemary Veronica Driscoll Papaleo, 88, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at Piedmont Northside Hospital.

Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Rev. Paul Pantiru officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, June 27, 2021 from 3:00 – 5:00 PM at the funeral home. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 PM Monday, June 28, 2021 with the family receiving friends following the Rosary until 7:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Rosemary was born on November 8, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York to the late William Joseph Driscoll and Vera McHave Driscoll. She was the third of 4 children. Growing up during the Depression and World War II, life was not easy. To make things even worse her father passed away when she was a young girl. Attending a party with her best friend Joanie Stock, she met the love of her life Army Master Sergeant Anthony Papaleo, who happened to be on leave. They were married on March 9, 1952.  For a short while lived in Fayetteville, North Carolina so he could complete his service. A month later they moved back to Brooklyn where our father began his career in the Aerospace Industry as a machinist. They started a family and together and over the years had 6 children whose names are Anthony, William, Robert, Patricia, Rosemary and Michael. Not wanting to raise their children in New York City, they bought their first home and moved out to Brentwood on Long Island in 1958.  When our father took a job in 1986 at Northrop in California, they left New York. They bought a house in Simi Valley that same year, where she lived at until he passed. At the time of her passing, she left behind 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Other than her parents Rosemary was preceded in death by her husband Anthony Morris Papaleo.

She is survived by her daughter Rosemary Doll of Columbus, GA.,  daughter Patricia Perry Papaleo, of Long Island, NY., son William Papaleo of Long Island, NY. son, Robert Papaleo of Simi Valley, CA, son Michael Papaleo of Simi Valley, CA and son Anthony Papaleo of San Diego, CA.
