Rosalie C. Hawkins

Rosalie C. Hawkins, 97, of Columbus, GA passed away on Friday, July 8, 2022 at Columbus Hospice House. A celebration of her life will be held 11:00 AM Monday, July 11, 2022 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907 with Reverend Kim McGarr officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Rosalie was born on February 11, 1925 in Colquitt, Georgia to the late Leon and Effie Crawford.  She poured a lot of life into her 97 years.  Before retirement, she was employed by Fountain, Arrington, Bass, Mercer, and Lee Accounting.  She was an avid games player and enjoyed bowling, bridge, and trips to gambling casinos.  Rosalie was a huge fan of the Atlanta Braves. She played golf until the age of 94 when she finally told family and friends “it was just too hot to play”.

Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Lieutenant Bertram James Clark who was killed in World War II, and her son-in-law Phil Gilliam, Sr.

She is survived by her three children: Linda Gilliam of Macon, GA; Debra Hawkins of Kennesaw, GA; and David (Amanda) Hawkins of Hamilton, GA. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Phil (Lisa) Gilliam, Jr; Matt (Diane) Gilliam both of Macon; and Lindsay (Adam) Harrison of Cullman, AL. In addition, she is survived by six great grandchildren: Kelsey (Brandon) Renfroe; Kinsley, Olivia, and Lauren Gilliam; and Brooks and Blakely Harrison.

A special thank you to the staff and residents of Covenant Woods who continued to entertain her with a wealth of activities and treated her like family.
