Ronald W. Welch, 84, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, March 17, 2019 at St. Francis Hospital.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Welch was born March 21, 1934 in Montgomery, AL son of the late Eacie Henry Welch and Robert Wilson Button. He worked as a sales rep for various sporting goods manufacturers and loved to watch Alabama football and the Atlanta Braves. He played high school baseball, college baseball and was almost drafted by the Detroit Tigers until he was drafted by the Army. Mr. Welch also loved to fish and play golf.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Takach Welch of Columbus, GA, son, Ron Welch (Kim) of Alpharetta, GA, grandchildren, Travis, A.J., Jeremy and Ryan Welch, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Anne Outreach, 1820 Box Road Columbus, GA 31907.
