R. Wayne Sanders, 70, of Columbus, GA died Wednesday, May 15, 2013 at the Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday, May 18, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Scott Hagan and Reverend Mark Sasser officiating. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Sanders was born September 18, 1942 in Avon Park, FL son of the late Julian and Vassie Lee Sanders. He retired from Gas Light Company as a supervisor and also retired as an inspector for the city of Columbus. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and a former member of Hamp Stevens United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Jane Edwards Sanders of Columbus, GA, daughters, Leanne Sanders Fort (Wesley) of McDonough, GA and Amy Sanders Freiler (Chris) of Acworth, GA, sisters, Opal Norman of Columbus, GA and Joyce Carter of Cartersville, GA, and five grandchildren, Katie Fort, Robby Fort, Luke Freiler, Matt Freiler and Jacob Freiler.
Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to Epworth United Methodist Church 2400 Devonshire Dr. Columbus, GA 31904.
