Col. (Ret.) Ronald J. Jebavy, 77, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, October 3, 2013 at Spring Harbor of Green Island.



A Mass of Christian burial with full Military honors will be held 12:30 PM Saturday, October 5, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church, 2000 Kay Cir, Columbus, GA 31907 with Father Ronnie Madden officiating. The family will receive friends 11:30-12:30 AM at the Church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.



Col. Jebavy was born July 1, 1936, son of the late Otto Jebavy and Katherine Brewer Jebavy. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church and retired after 28 years of service from the United States Army. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Among his awards are Legion of Merit, Bronze Star with V Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, and Ranger Tab.



After retiring from the military, Col. Jebavy was first employed by Litton, a Defense contractor supporting the Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences. He designed and conducted research and developed training programs to enhance soldier performance. He subsequently was employed by Wetzel International and then Cypress International as a consultant for a number of international companies.

He was a proud Cum Laude graduate of the University of Notre Dame and received Master Degrees from Oregon State University and Florida Institute of Technology.

He challenged himself for self improvement in all areas of his life, from speed reading to push-ups. His competitive nature showed in his love for sports, particularly baseball. He pitched in high school, college, and the military. As a senior citizen he played in a senior softball league from age 55 to 72. He was dedicated to his faith, his family, and the military.



Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Stefanie, and brother, Jim.



He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gail, of Columbus, GA, 3 children; Shelly of Murfreesboro, TN, Tim and wife Judy of Cumming, GA, and Ronnie of Fairfax, VA; sister Mary Elaine Krieg of Ludington, MI, and 11 grandchildren.



Flowers will be accepted but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project (www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org), or Gentiva hospice (100 Brookstone Centre Parkway, Columbus, GA 31904).
