Born on April 8, 1938, in Fort Benning, GA, Ronald's life was marked by dedication, love, and a passion for the world around him. He was 86 years old.

Ronald was born to parents Austin David Edwards and Minnie Delphia (Edwards) Edwards. He grew up alongside his brothers David John Edwards, III, William Harry Edwards (Billy), and sisters Dorthy Andrea (Edwards) Carbaugh and Joan Annette Edwards, all of whom predeceased him. He later became a proud resident of Columbus, where he established deep roots and a legacy of integrity and hard work.

His educational pursuits led him to Columbus College, where he studied Business, laying the groundwork for his successful career. Ronald's professional life was largely spent in the construction industry, where he made his mark as a general contractor and homebuilder across Georgia and Alabama beginning in 1965. His commitment to his craft was evident in his leadership roles, including serving as past President of the Home Builders Association of Columbus and Georgia, and his enduring involvement as a Senior Life Director of the National Association of Homebuilders.

In addition to his professional achievements, Ronald served his country with pride as a member of the Georgia Army National Guard for six years. His service was a testament to his love for his community and country, reflecting his character as a man of honor and duty.

Ronald's passions extended beyond his work and service. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating on Lake Harding, playing golf, skiing, and hunting. His love for adventure and the great outdoors was matched by his fondness for antique automobiles, which he collected with great enthusiasm.

Family was the cornerstone of Ronald's life. He is survived by his loving daughters Kristi Lyn Edwards of Denver, CO, and Pamela Edwards Walker (Ewell) of Columbus, GA. His significant other, Sandra Kimbrell of Talbotton, GA, shared in his life's adventures and brought him great joy. He also leaves behind his brother, Jack Jeffery Edwards of Doraville, GA, and sister, Cynthia Karen Edwards of Florence, AL. Ronald's legacy continues through his six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom he adored and inspired with his wisdom and kindness.

Ronald Austin Edwards lived a life full of purpose, love, and a commitment to excellence in all his endeavors. He will be remembered for his unwavering integrity, his generous spirit, and his ability to bring people together. His was a life well-lived, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

A graveside service will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Parkhill Cemetery with Reverend Hank Reeves officiating. Visitation will be held From 10:00 to 11:00 AM Thursday, February 6, 2025 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory.
