Ronald “Buzz” Brown was born August 19, 1948 in Opelika, AL son of the late Harold Hall Brown and Ethel Camp Brown. He graduated from Chavala High School in Seale, Alabama. Attending Chattahoochee Valley Community College, he earned his Associate in Applied Science Degree. In 1969, he married the love of his life, Kathy Ann Britt of Columbus. He joined the U.S. Navy, serving our country for 4 years as well as serving during the Vietnam War. As someone who was mechanically-inclined, Buzz worked for Golden Foundries followed by GFA Compressors later in life. As a part of the Columbus community, Buzz and Kathy raised two sons and attended St. Mark UMC. Serving and worshipping with beloved friends and family, they devoted their lives to helping others and showing them the love of Jesus. Buzz was a part of the men’s Bible study and Sunday School groups, a youth Sunday School teacher and always a fun youth chaperone on many adventures. He was dedicated to the Emmaus community and served as a Lay Leader. He would proudly yell “War Eagle” to show his love for Auburn University. He was most proud of his children and grandchildren attending every event in which they participated. He loved his family, community, being with people, and sharing Jesus.
Buzz also had a love of nature. He loved being out on a lake riding in a boat or fishing. Raised with a knowledge of boats and motors, he was happiest running on the water or racing down the road. In his younger years, he was a talented skier on the water. The feeling of freedom was such a thrill for him. Time spent at the lake entertaining family and friends, BBQing, and giving boat rides made him so happy. He was a true entertainer. We will all miss our dear Buzz.
