Ronald Gene Blakely, 64, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, August 12, 2010 at The Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Striplin Terrace United Methodist Church 4170 Striplin Terrace Dr. Columbus, GA 31909 with Reverend Marsha Emory officiating. A private interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5 to 6 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Blakely was born May 27, 1946 in St. Louis, MO son of the late Glenn W. and Elizabeth Nicols Blakely. He attended Brown Avenue Elementary, Columbus Jr. High, Jordan High School, and Columbus Technical School. He worked for 31 years at United Cities Gas Company and later went to work at Hughes Supply and Daniel Appliance. He was also a member of Striplin Terrace UMC where he worked with the youth group, childrenâ
