Ronald Jay Alverson 60 of Columbus died Sunday, January 16, 2011 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Graveside services will be held 3 P.M., Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at Parkhill Cemetery with Rev. Morris Lewark officiating. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6 till 8 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Mr. Alverson was born January 16, 1951 in Toledo, Ohio, son of the late Charles Jay and Bessie Jane Craft Alverson. He was a member of Central Christian Church and retired in 2006 from the Georgia Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Judith Alverson of Columbus, Ga.; son, Matthew Heid Alverson (Stacy) of Columbus, Ga.; step mother, Sharon D. Alverson of Crawfordville, Fl.; sister, Linda Alverson McLeod (Robert) of Mauk, Ga.; brother, Michael Kiechel (Sue) of Upatoi, Ga.; sister in law, Jennifer Heid Ward (Jim) of Waverly Hall, Ga.; grandson, Matthew Jay Alverson of Columbus, Ga.; two nieces, Muffin and Connie and three nephews, Andrew, Chris and Donnie.
