Roger Daniel Dansby, Sr.

Roger Daniel Dansby, Sr., 83, of Cataula, GA died Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Dr. Tommy Henschel, Dr. Don Butler, Sr. and Rev. Brian Kessler officiating. The family will receive friend one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Roger was born December 4, 1938 in Columbus, Ga to the late, Janie Armstrong and Smith Dansby. He lived in Columbus, attended Bibb City schools and graduated from Jordan High School in 1957. He then went to the University of Georgia in 1957 where he played football under Coach Wallace Butts. He graduated from UGA with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. Roger was a lifelong resident of Columbus  and Harris County and worked as an Insurance adjuster for over 50 years.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his sister, Bess Dansby Dowling and brother, Arter Smith Dansby (Sonny).

He is survived by his wife of 61 years Ruth Neaves Dansby of Cataula, GA, three sons, Roger “Dan” Daniel Dansby, Jr.  (Teri) of Cataula, GA, Patrick “Brian” Dansby (Jacki) of Columbus, GA, and David Cale Dansby (Amy) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Whitney Dansby Phillips of San Antonio, TX, Roger “Trey” Daniel Dansby, III (Britney) of Hugo, OK, Spencer Cole Dansby (Emily) of Acworth, GA, David Cale Dansby, Jr. of Cataula, GA, Erin Dansby Miller (Cyle) of Birmingham, AL, Hannah Smith Dansby of Columbus, GA, Emily Ann Dansby of Milledgeville, GA, Briceson Walker Dansby of Hamilton, GA, Berkley and Tyndall Hall both of Columbus, GA, Annalise Cathryn Dansby of Hamilton, GA, Elena Danielle Dansby of Cataula, GA, great-grandchildren, Westin and Lauren Roddenberger, Tre’Sean and Damien Dansby, Gunter and Hunter Phillips and David “Tripp” Cale Dansby, III.
