Robert "Bob" Gerard Stanley, Sr.

Robert Gerard Stanley, Sr. (81) of Midland, GA died on Friday, June 21, 2024 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Father Will Cook officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd in Columbus, GA. Interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery following the service.

Robert (Bob) was born on August 17, 1942 in Queens, New York to the late Mr. And Mrs. James J. Stanley. Bob earned a bachelor’s degree from Pace University in New York and went on to retire from both Dow Chemical (Quality and Logistics, Senior Manager) and Pratt and Whitney (Logistics, Senior Manager). Bob was active in retirement with his mornings spent enjoying the company of other retirees at Dunkin Donuts and his afternoons spent walking or riding his bike on the Riverwalk. Bob also relished the time he spent with his “grand dog” George and their many adventures around the house as well as cheering on the New York Yankees and New York Giants.

As a life-long Catholic, Bob was a faithful parishioner of St Anne Church and member of the Knights of Columbus.

Bob was preceded in death by his father: James J. Stanley, his mother: Agnes Stanley (nee Smith), brother: Jimmy Stanley, sisters: Patricia Carpenter and Mary Russo, nephew: Tommy Carpenter, and the mother his children: Elizabeth K. Stanley.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia W. Stanley of Midland, GA, son: Robert Stanley, Jr.(Maureen), daughter: Elizabeth Kousoubris (Philip), nephews: Michael Stanley (Kelly), and John Stanley (Susie), niece: Teresa Erickson (Ralph), stepson: Michael Wilkerson, and step-daughter: Leslie Eikelberry (Joseph).

Bob was especially proud of all his grandchildren and took immense pride in being their “Beeba”. Catherine Dousa, Grace Dousa, Bobby Stanley, Jack Stanley, and Annie Stanley were talked about in every conversation to family and strangers alike. Bob always had a picture at the ready to show everyone he met of recent events in the lives of his grandchildren. His bonus grandchildren of Dylan Wilkerson, Carson French, Max Eikelberry, Ian Eikelberry, Morgan Phillips, and Jessica Carter were always on the receiving end of his “dad” jokes and Bob was a special part of each of their lives. Bob also had four great-grandchildren.
