Roberta Judith Schweizer, 80, affectionately known as Bobbie, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2023, in Columbus, GA. Known for her loving, wise and creative personality, Bobbie's life was defined by a deep sense of family and a profound love for her many interests.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Bobbie was born on March 8, 1943, in Michigan City, IN, to the late Phyllis Potempa, who cherished her deeply. Bobbie's life was marked by a rich tapestry of love and companionship. On March 4, 1963, she married the love of her life, Gerald F. Schweizer Sr., who sadly preceded her in death on September 4, 2001. She leaves behind a cherished legacy of love and family, which she considered her greatest achievement. She was adored by her family and cherished the time spent with each and every one of them. Professionally, Bobbie was a hardworking woman who managed a cleaning service in Columbus, GA, for several years. She was also a talented craftswoman, working alongside her husband to create beautiful cypress clocks. Bobbie was a woman of many talents and interests. She poured her special creativity into every aspect of her life. Her passion for crafts extended to ceramics and cake making. Bobbie's cakes were not only delightful to taste, but they were also works of art, reflecting her keen attention to detail and her innate creativity. Bobbie's love extended beyond people to animals, especially dogs. Her pets were an integral part of her family, and they brought her immense joy and comfort. She had a natural affinity for animals, and her pets were always by her side, providing her with unconditional love and companionship. Bobbie's life was a testament to the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.". She was a beacon of love, wisdom, and creativity, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched with her loving spirit and creative flair.

She is survived by her sons, Thomas L. Sr. (Cheryl) Schweizer of New Carlisle, IN, and Timothy L. Sr. (Deanna) Schweizer of LaPorte, IN; daughter, Teresa (Rod) Bartrug of Carrollton, GA; stepson Gerald F Schweizer Jr. (Rob) of Largo, FL; sister, Deonne Madamba of California; brothers Kenny (Julia) Potempa and Jerome (Arlene) Potempa, both of Michigan City, IN. Bobbie also leaves behind her wonderful friend Maria Creech, as well as Maria's children who brought much joy and companionship into her life. Bobbie's legacy continues through her 12 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, Bobbie was preceded in death by her sister, Karolyn (Potempa) Lightburn and stepson Robin Schweizer of Union Mills, IN.
