Mr. Robert W. Singletary passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021 in Columbus, Georgia.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 11:30 AM at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church near Fadette, Alabama with Rev. Steve Sanders officiating according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Robert was born July 16, 1927 in Geneva County, Alabama to the late James Lester Singletary and Jewel Kirkland Singletary. He attended Slocomb High school.

In his early years Robert worked in various trades of construction before settling his family in Columbus, Georgia and building a career in the textile industry. He eventually retired from West Point Pepperell as an equipment technician, or what was known in the “cotton mill” circles as a “loom Fixer”. Early o in his retirement, he and wife Seretha moved “back down to the country”, a team coined by those who left the small farms of South Alabama to provide more opportunity to their families in the” Mill” city of Columbus.

After moving back “Home” the Singletary’s rejoined the family church of their youth, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. It was there that Robert accepted the Lord in 2002 at the age of 75, and was baptized that same year. After the passing of his wife Seretha, Robert eventually moved back to Columbus where he spent his final years in the home of his youngest daughter.

Mr. Singletary was preceded in death by his parents, brother James David Singletary, Grandson Trey Pruitt, and devoted wife of 66 years Seretha Singletary. He is survived by four children, Genell Macey, Randall Singletary (Becky), Geri Singletary, and Robin Poe (Johnny). Survivors also include nine grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and two great, great, grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church.
