Robert J. Rutkowski, 87, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Keith Trumbo officiating. Family and friends are invited to his burial at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Rutkowski was born January 10, 1932 in South River, NJ son of the late John and Cecelia Jankowski Rutkowski. He served 2 years in the U.S. Navy and then served 2 years in the U.S. Army. He worked as a Supervisor for Jersey Central Power and Light and attended Columbus First Seventh-Day Adventist Church. He liked to shop and work in the yard.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Carolyn Sue Murdock.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Lloyd Rutkowski of Columbus, GA, daughter, Jan Williams (Billy Ray) of Columbus, GA, sons, Randy Rutkowski of Columbus, GA and Robert Rutkowski of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, John and Natalie Rutkowski, and great-grandchildren, Lillie, Kinslie, Brantley and John Rutkowski, Jr.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Columbus First Seventh-Day Adventist Church School, 7880 Schomburg Rd. Columbus, GA 31909 or PAWS Humane 4900 Milgen Rd. Columbus, GA 31909.
