Lt (Ret) Robert Charles Rood, 65, of Columbus, GA died October 9, 2014 at Midtown Medical Center.



Funeral services will be held 12:00 PM Tuesday, October 14, 2014 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Grace Burton-Edwards officiating with visitation to follow the service. Burial will be held at 11:30 AM with full military honors in the garden at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907.



Lt (Ret) Rood was born on July 17, 1949 in Houston, TX to the late Finius Rood and Imogene Townsley Rood. He retired after 22 years from the US Navy serving in the Vietnam conflict. After his military career he worked for IBM and his most recent position at TSYS as a programmer. Mr. Rood was an emergency first aid instructor and trainer with the American Red Cross and the 2011-2012 District Governor of the Lions Club International.



Survivors include his wife of 14 years Cecelia Rood; sister Sharon Rayhe (Michael) of Madera, CA; and two nieces, Rebecca Brazil and Amy Rayhe.
