Robert V. Roberts, 95, of Columbus, GA died Tuesday, July 26, 2012 at Covenant Woods.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Chaplain Capt. Robert A. Elkowitz officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Roberts was born January 30, 1917 in Horton, TX son of the late Al General Banks Roberts and Bessie Bradshaw Roberts. He retired from the U.S. Army in June 1961 where he was a Nuclear Weapons Officer. He taught school for 17 years in Albuquerque, NM. He owned the Famous Shoe Store in Iowa. He also owned a land development company in Texas for 22 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge Lions Club.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Marceline Roberts.
Survivors include his daughter, Christin Melody Glynn of Columbus, GA, sons, Robert Roberts (Sandy) of Lancaster, OH and Grayson Roberts (Alaina) of Columbus, GA, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
