Robert John Petersen, 91, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, December 11, 2011 at Columbus Hospice House.
A private service will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Petersen was born June 16, 1920 in Sergeant Bluff, IA son of the late John C. and Joannah P. Larsen Petersen. He retired from the U.S. Navy having served in World War II and also retired from the Civil Service. He was a graduate of Palmer College of Chiropractic and was Lutheran by faith.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Regina Rhoades Petersen and sister, Opal Christenson.
Survivors include his son, Byron Davis Rhoades (Lewis Ann) of Columbus, GA, daughter, Dinah Ammerman of Jacksonville, FL, sister, Marion Petersen of Slayton, MN, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
