Robert Earl Meeks, Sr., 76, of Columbus, GA died Monday, October 5, 2015 at Orchard View Assisted Living.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, October 9, 2015 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church 500 River Knoll Way Columbus, GA 31904 with Dr. Brad Hicks and Reverend Kevin Calhoun officiating. A private family interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7:30 PM at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Earl was born April 21, 1939 in Oconee, GA son of the late George and Irene Brown Meeks. For the past 40 years, he was a land surveyor and partner with Moon Meeks Mason Vinson, Inc. He graduated from Southern Tech with an Associates of Science in Civil Engineering degree, was a member of Wynnbrook Baptist Church where he was a former Deacon and served as head usher, chairman of the grounds and was on the baptism committee. Earl was also a former member of the East Columbus Rotary Club and a member of the Quarterback Club.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Troy Meeks and his sister, Betty Thackery.
Survivors include his loving wife, Martha Bone Meeks of Columbus, GA, daughter, Amy Allen (John) of Midland, GA, son, Robert Earl Meeks, Jr. (Toni) of Fayetteville, NC, four step-sons, Aubrey Bone (Cecile), Allen Bone (Christine) all of Columbus, GA, Paul Knight Bone (Tara) of Warner Robins, GA and Jimmy Bone (Pam) of Midland, GA, sister, Elaine Adams of Harrison, GA, three brothers, Marion Meeks of Sandersville, GA, Mack Meeks of Amelia Island, FL and George Meeks of Tennille, GA, four grandchildren, John Earl Allen, Cody Allen, Jacob Allen and Haywood Meeks, and 10 step grandchildren.
