Robert Sammie (Bob) Gallimore, Jr., 60, of Columbus, GA went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 14, 2012 at his residence.

A celebration of his life will be held 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 17, 2012 at Beallwood Baptist Church with Reverend Billy Duncan officiating. A private interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 to 1:00 P.M. at the church according to McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.

Mr. Gallimore was born November 27, 1951 in Murray, Kentucky, son of the late Robert Sammie Gallimore, Sr. and Norma Jean Flood Thorning. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of Columbus State University and worked locally in real estate and business management. He was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the Celebration Choir. Bob was a loving and devoted husband, father, and friend. He trusted Christ with all his heart and had a gift for bringing joy into the lives of others.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Terry Gallimore and his sisters, Tammy Lewis and Laurie Barlow.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years Donna Gallimore of Columbus, GA; son, Jesse Gallimore; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Grace and Rob Hall; brothers, Dennis (Deanie) Gallimore, Kevin Thorning, Victor Thorning, Jeffrey Thorning and Michael Thorning; sisters, Jeanna Powell and Tracy Gallimore; and his best friend, Fred Kelsey.

The family offers special thanks to the wonderful staff at John B. Amos Cancer Center and Columbus Hospice. Their kindness will always be remembered.
