Robert Henry Evans, 83, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, March 20, 2011 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend John Rigby and Reverend Mike Yarbrough officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Evans was born December 4, 1927 in Lucille, GA to the late Abner Tim Evans and Emmie Mae Creel Evans. He was retired from Fieldcrest Mills after 42 years of service and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Evans was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Robley Evans, sisters, Mildred Herring and Dorothy Wise, and brothers, Preston Evans, Eugene Evans, and Roy Evans.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Wilma Parker Evans of Columbus, GA, daughter, Deborah D. Garner of Columbus, GA, son, Keith Dewayne Evans (Peggy) of Phenix City, AL, sister, Shirley Cottle (Gene) of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Anna Douglass, Leighanne Jordan (Chris), Evan Garner, Whitney Evans and Allyson Evans, great grandchildren, Robert Ian Jordan, Lily D. Jordan, Emma Grace Hinson, and Parker Caydance Hinson.
