Robert Steven "Steve" Dorriety, a lifelong resident of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully of natural causes on February 25, 2025, at the age of 60. Born on March 6, 1964, to Robert E. Dorriety and the late Mary Jo Dorriety, Steve was a cherished son, brother, and friend whose kindness and optimism touched the hearts of many in the community.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM EST Sunday, March 2, 2025 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907.

Steve graduated from Jordan High School in 1982, where he was known for his friendly demeanor and positive spirit. Following his graduation, he pursued further education at Columbus Technical College, earning a welding certificate that would serve him well throughout his life. He took great pride in his craft and was always ready to lend his skills to those in need.

Professionally, Steve was a dedicated worker who initially helped his father with the family's lawn service business. After his father's retirement, Steve continued to assist others in the community, always willing to offer a helping hand. His commitment to service was paralleled only by his love for his family, especially his little big brother Brian, whose firefighting career filled Steve with immense pride.

Outside of work, Steve was an avid fisherman, spending countless hours by the water, enjoying the tranquility of nature, and the thrill of the catch. His love for Alabama football was well known, and he could recite player statistics and game highlights with the passion of a true fan. Steve's positive attitude and infectious smile were staples at every game day gathering, where he was always the life of the party.

Those who knew Steve will fondly remember him for his kind-hearted nature and the warmth he extended to everyone he met. His hugs were legendary – a true expression of the love and joy he carried within him. Steve's presence could light up a room, and his optimistic outlook on life was an inspiration to all.

Steve's character was the epitome of friendliness. He approached life with an open heart, always seeing the best in people and circumstances. His optimism was not just a trait but a way of life, influencing everyone around him to see the brighter side of things.

Steve is preceded in death by his Mother Mary Jo Dorriety.

His is survived by His father Robert Earl Dorriety (Shirley) of Columbus, GA; brother, Brian Scott Dorriety (Brittaney) of Valley, AL; nephew, Blayke Dorriety (Kaylee) of Valdosta, GA; niece, Devyn Dorriety of Atlanta, GA, and two great nieces.
