Robert Allen Barr, 78, of Cusseta, GA died Sunday, December 7, 2014 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel , 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA 31907. A private interment will follow in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 10:00 - 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Mr. Barr was born August 21, 1936 in Providence, RI, son of the late Reginald Julian Barr, Sr. and Agnes Grace Wahl Barr. He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a self employed paint contractor.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Jeanette Dykes Barr; and sisters, Georgia Eiland and Arlene Owens.
Survivors include his daughters, Debra Beesley of Columbus, GA, Linda Jeter (Jimmy) of Box Springs, GA and Cindy Wiggins (Ken) of Dalton, GA; grandchildren, Jarrod, Jodi, Lindsey and Eric; great grandchildren, Audrey, Will, Aiden and Noah; brother, Reginald Barr, Jr. (Mary Jim), twin sister, Barbara Pritchett (Harold), and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
