Robbie Lee Phenix Conway, 92, of Columbus, GA died Monday, February 1, 2021 at Canterbury Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Rev. Don Wilhite officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Riverdale Cemetery following the service. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 social distancing and facemasks are required for the funeral service, visitation and interment.

Robbie was born March 26, 1928 in Troy, AL to the late Alex Phenix and Eva Mae Poore Phenix. In her early teens and twenties she worked at Bibb Mills. Robbie became a single parent after 20 years of marriage to her late husband, Grover Paul Conway. She moved back to Columbus to be close to her family with her 3 youngest children. She worked numerous jobs in food services. One her favorite jobs was working at the Harvest House Cafeteria in Columbus Square Mall for 10 years before they closed their doors. She met and made some lifelong friends there. She later went on the work at St. Francis Hospital for the dietary Department and Doctors Hospital. She worked part –time at Muscogee County School District in the Nutrient Department working with the children.

Robbie loved watching Georgia Football “Go Dawgs”. She could tell you all the players’ names, what position they played and would fuss if they didn’t play to her liking. Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her only son, David Paul Conway, whom she truly adored, sisters, Agnes Phenix Martin, Peggy Phenix Welch, brothers, Horace E. “Joe” Phenix and James “Earl” Phenix.

She is survived by her daughters, Ginger Conway Perry (Verlin) of Columbus, GA, Vickie Conway Milligan (Travis) of Phenix City, AL, Belinda Conway McGahee (Stanley) of Columbus, GA, brother-in-law, Delmar Martin of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Kimberly Danz Clevenger (Jim) , Gerald Paul Danz, Brandy Wilson Green, Brandon Eugene McGahee (Kimberly), Joshua Paul McGahee (Chancey) and Amanda Conway Lutes (Chris). She was blessed with 17 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wants to say Thank You to Canterbury Nursing Home in Phenix City, AL for the love and care given to their mother, especially in her final days.
