Rita C. Ward, 84, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, January 11, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Minister Jeremy Green officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mrs. Ward was born April 1, 1933 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Floyd McKinley Clark and Margie Ree Knighton Clark. She worked as a Loan Officer at Barnett Bank and was a member of the first graduating class from Jordan High School in 1951.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Allen Ward.
Survivors include her daughter, Donna Ward (Kay Bales) of Columbus, GA, son, Alan Ward (Sandy) of Cataula, GA, sister, Sheryll Proctor (William) of Nashville, TN, grandchildren, Rita Jean Wells of Columbus, GA, Sandy Wells (Leroy Powell) of Columbus, GA, Tyler Ward (Lydia) of Cataula, GA, Hunter Ward of Cataula, GA, Jason Bales (Lillian Eaton) of Newnan, GA, Mary Lynne Zirkle (Jon) of Franklin, TN, Kaitlin Zirkle of Franklin, TN and David Proctor of Augusta, GA, and 10 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Rd. Suite M Columbus, GA 31904 or to the American Heart Association 4747 Hamilton Rd. Suite D Columbus, GA 31904.
