Richard Strobel, 79, of Columbus, Georgia died, Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at St. Francis Hospital.
A Private Memorial Service will be held at a later date according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Georgia 31909.
Richard was born July 26, 1944 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Veronica Fogarty Strobel, Colorado, and son of the late Gotfried Strobel. Other than his father, he is preceded in death by his daughter Elizabeth Bryant.
Richard served in the United States Air Force from 1964until his honorable discharge in 1968 during the Vietnam War. Richard retired from the Georgia Department of Corrections with the Regional Facilities Maintenance Division.
He was an active HAM Radio Operator. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Richard was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, Columbus, Georgia. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his mother, Veronica Fogarty Strobel, wife, Patricia Strobel of Columbus, Georgia, brother, Robert Strobel of Colorado, sister, Beverly Stoddard (Wes) of Colorado, grandsons, Gavin Bryant, Ethan Bryant both of Upatoi, Georgia many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Anne Catholic Church, 2000 Kay Circle, Columbus, Georgia 31909.
