Richard Allen "Rick" Malott, Jr., 62, of Columbus, GA died Monday, March 7, 2011 at the Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Friday, March 11, 2011 at Evangel Temple Assembly of God 5350 Veterans Parkway Columbus, GA 31904 with Reverend Paul Thomas and Reverend Bud Rupel officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery in Ft. Mitchell, AL. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6-8 PM according to McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Mr. Malott was born September 24, 1948 in Ft. Wayne, IN son of the late Richard Allen Malott, Sr. and Carole Maxine Madden Malott. Mr. Malott owned Malott Accounting & Tax Service from 1993 till 2011, at which time he sold his practice to Behar, Reid, Brown and Melton CPAS of Columbus. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He was proud to have served two tours in Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star and was a Disabled American Veteran. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God, Dixie Seniors, Valley Seniors Golf, Columbus Senior Softball Association, Columbus Hockey Association, and a long term Columbus Cottonmouths Fan, and had only missed twelve home games prior to this season. He was a member of Arcola Aces Softball Team in Arcola, IN and a Komets Hockey fan in Ft. Wayne, IN.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 33 years, Kathee Malott and his stepson, Andy Garcia.
Survivors include his wife, Marta Antas Malott "Marti"of Columbus, GA, son, Richard Allen "Rick" Malott, III (Kim) of Ellerslie, GA, daughter, Suzette Renee' Navarro (Ernest) of Bothell, WA, two sisters, Charlotte Marie Bates of Ft. Wayne, IN and Dawn Irene Pargeon (Robert)of Ft. Wayne, IN, stepsons, Wesley Garcia of California, Walter John Czarneski, III of Connecticut and Jared Casey Czarneski of Columbus, GA, three stepsisters, Cheryl Lolmaugh of Ft. Wayne, IN, Sandra Bender of Arcola, IN and Karen Peltier of Hillsborough, OR, mother-in-law, Julia Antas and sister-in-law, Janet Roman both of Ft. Wayne, IN and seven grandchildren.
