Richard Eugene Lott, Sr., affectionately known as Ricky, left this world on June 5, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on October 3, 1951, in Columbus, GA, he was a lifelong resident of his beloved hometown where he also passed away, surrounded by the love of his family.

Ricky was a man of great kindness and friendliness, whose faith-filled life was a testament to his strong character. He graduated from Harris County High School, where he formed friendships that lasted a lifetime. Ricky dedicated many years of service to his community, first by working at the Columbus Post Office until his retirement, and then as a bus driver for Harris County, where his warm smile and jovial nature made him a favorite among both colleagues and students. Furthermore, his role as an ambassador at Bull Creek golf course allowed him to share his love for the game.

Known for his love of the outdoors, Ricky found joy in playing golf with friends and family, taking serene rides with his loyal dog, Muffin, and embracing the tranquility of fishing and camping. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family, who were the cornerstone of his life.

Ricky leaves behind his devoted wife, Brenda, and their children: Ricky Lott Jr., Kevin Lott and his wife Kristi, and daughter Stephanie Schaaf and her husband Bobby. He was a proud and doting grandfather to Kyle Lott, Montana Kalish and her husband Tek, Olivia Lott and her husband Kaleb, and Abbey Schaaf. The delight of his later years was witnessing the growth of his great-grandchildren, Field and Finley Kalish, who brought him immense joy.

He is survived by his brother, Danny Lott and his wife Peggy, who will miss his companionship and ever-present support. Ricky was predeceased by his mother, Virginia Hutchinson, his father, Ben Lott Jr., and his brothers, Jimmy and Mike Lott, who welcomed him into eternal peace.

Ricky's life was one of unwavering generosity and warmth. His ability to connect with people from all walks of life, coupled with his genuine concern for others, made him a beloved figure in his community. His laughter was infectious, his counsel sought after, and his presence a comfort to those who knew him.

As we bid farewell to a man of such admirable qualities, we are reminded of the impact he had on our lives. His legacy of kindness, friendship, and faith will continue to live on through the many lives he touched. Ricky's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories told around the golf course, the fishing trips that echo his laughter, and the family gatherings that will always feel his absence.

In honor of Ricky's life, we celebrate the years we were blessed to share with him. We take solace in knowing that he lived fully, loved deeply, and left this world a better place. Richard Eugene Lott, Sr. will be profoundly missed but never forgotten.
