Richard Diekman, 56 of Columbus, GA died Sunday, June 23, 2013 at Gentiva Hospice.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 26, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA with Reverend Steven Bell officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mr. Diekman was born May 24, 1957 in Moline, IL, son of the late Lawrence Burke Diekman and Dianne Anderson Red. Professionally, Richard was an electronic technician, with many other skills and interests. He loved nature, and some of his happiest times were spent hiking and camping in the wilderness. Richard was a skilled cook, and he also enjoyed gardening, fishing, baseball, riding his motorcycle with his son, and playing card games. He was a humble man who found joy in the simplest things in life. His sense of humor could make others laugh and lift their spirits. He was a kind and good man who loved his wife and children very much. He also loved his canine companions, Duchess and Lucky. Richard is loved dearly by his family and will be missed by many.
Survivors include his wife Patsy Diekman of Columbus, GA; children, Cora Diekman and Richard Diekman; granddaughter, Livia Yorgov all of Atlanta, GA; three step-children, Heather Rizzo, Alana Mobley and Travis Mobley (Candie), aunts, Cecilia Paz, Patricia Quillin and Madelyn Anderson all of Moline, IL, 12 step-grandchildren, many cousins, and a large extended family in Illinois.
