Richard Ralph Croom went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2020 after a 6 year battle with Dementia.
The family will have a visitation at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, Ga. 31907 on Monday, October 26, 2020 from 5:00-6:30pm.
Richard was born in Columbus, Georgia, on February 25, 1956 to the late Hugh L. Croom and Sarah Ralph Croom. He was the youngest of 6 children, 4 girls, and 2 boys. Richard never met a stranger and had a knack for finding humor in life. He was gentle and kind, and always willing to help anyone. He was also usually the life of the party and an animated story and joke teller. His laughter was contagious.
Richard worked in the beverage industry for 40 years. In his free time he enjoyed golf, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He was a talented woodworker and an avid student of the history of World War II. He was the original Dale Earnhardt fan. But, what he loved most of all, was being with his family and friends and laughing.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Elaine Grindle, Rebecca Ober and brothers-in-law, Chuck Ober and Richard Fenner.
Survivors include a daughter, Claire Berry (Pete) and sons, Ralph Croom, Jr. and Walter Croom, siblings Peggy Fenner, MaryLynn Webb (Keith), Hugh "Butch" Croom (Diane), grandaughters Amelia and Sarah Berry and many neices and nephews.
