COLUMBUS, GA - Richard F. Askew, Sr., 83, of Columbus, GA died Saturday, January 9, 2010 at The Medical Center.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Monday, January 11, 2010 at Parkhill Cemetery in The Chapel of the Pines Mausoleum with Reverend Brad Carpenter officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 P.M. on Monday at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA.
Mr. Askew was born September 10, 1926 in Lee County, GA son of the late Grady Askew and Annie Vann Askew. He served in the U. S. Army and retired from Civil Service at Ft. Benning as a sheet metal worker. He was a member of Harvest Faith Community Church of Nazarene. Mr. Askew was preceded in death by his brothers, David Askew and Hollis Askew and his sisters, Louise Harley and Eloise Allen.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Edna Askew of Columbus; daughter, Beverly Askew Geraci of Savannah, GA; son Richard F. "Mike" Askew, Jr. (Sally) of Warner Robins, GA; and grandson, John Charles Geraci, III (Wendy) of Murphy, NC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Columbus Hospice House, 7020 Moon Rd, Columbus, GA 31909 or Harvest Faith Community Church, 7777 Whitesville Rd., Columbus, GA 31904.
