Reverend Lewis Henry Brown

Reverend Lewis Henry Brown, 80, of Columbus, Georgia passed away Monday, February 27, 2023, along side his devoted loving wife of 24 years.  Lewis spent last 15 months fighting renal failure but has now taken up residence with his Lord and savior.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, March 1, 2023 in the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home Crematory with long time friends and colleagues, Rev. Jimmy Blanton and Pastor Norman Drummond officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd, Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held following the service at Parkhill Cemetery, 4161 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia, 31907.

Lewis was born, January 14, 1943 in Blakely, Georgia to parents Wayne Brown and Lucille Hall Brown. Lewis had several jobs, but worked many years as an insurance salesman but his true passion was spreading the word of God in his work as a minister.  Lewis was minister of Ridgecrest Baptist Church of Columbus for 27 years. After leaving Ridgecrest, he continued sharing his love for the Lord with members of Melody Lakes Baptist Church in Waverly Hall for 8 years.

Lewis is survived by his wife, Oleta Wright Brown. Both widowers found each other in their twilight and spent 24 years of wedded bliss.  Lewis was not blessed with children of his own, but by marriage was step-father to 4 children including his step-sons, Sammy Starling and Stan Barfield (Trish).  He also has many grandchildren and great grandchildren.  His also survived by his loving brother, William “Buddy” Brown (Merle) and special cousins and friends.  He touched many through his ministry and will be missed.
