Lamar C. Taylor, 90, of Crawford, AL died Thursday, September 29, 2016 at St. Francis Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 3, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Rev. Gary Tankersley officiating. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

The Rev. Taylor was born July 13, 1926 in Cook County, GA son of the late Clem Taylor and Retha Connell Taylor. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and was a conductor on the Southern Railroad during which time he became an alcoholic. On April 20, 1955, while intoxicated, he went to a revival at the Church of the Nazarene in Quitman, GA and the Lord marvelously saved him. In September 1957 in Valdosta, GA, he was sanctified (wholly) and was called to preach. He subsequently pastored churches in Georgia, Tennessee, and Alabama. He was a dynamic preacher of the Word. Rev. Taylor also retired from Thomaston Police Dept. and Upson County Sheriff's Dept. after 30 years of service. He also volunteered at Doctors Hospital.

Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters and his son, Rev. Ray H. Taylor.

Survivors include his children, Dell Miller (Mike) of Crawford, AL, Ed Taylor (Pam) of Fredrick, MD, Evelyn Bruce (Billy) of Crawford, AL and Sam Coker (Tina) of Thomaston, GA, grandchildren, Kara Vin Zant (Patrick), Gregg Miller, Lauren Minton (Jon), Ed Taylor (Carmen), Patrick Taylor (Cherie), Nicholas Taylor, Rachel Taylor, Lisa Webb (Lee), Brian Taylor (Leah), Chris Stone (Susan) and Angela Bussey, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild, and sisters, Glyn Bailey, Weida May and Elaine Stone all of Nashville, GA.

Flowers will be accepted, but those so desiring may make memorial contributions to HarvestPointe Church of the Nazarene, 7777 Whitesville Rd. Columbus, GA 31904.
