(Ret) SSG Joe Nathan Wilkerson, 45, of Bakersfield, CA died on Easter Sunday April 4, 2021, at Piedmont Community Hospital in Columbus, GA from a tragic Motorcycle accident.

A service will be held on Sunday April 18th, 2021, at 2pm at the McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory,3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus Ga.31907, Followed by a dinner at 4303 Searcy St Columbus, Ga 31907.

Joe was born on September 04, 1975, in Bakersfield, CA to Catherine Taylor who was born in Illinois and his Father Joe Nathan Wilkerson Bakersfield, CA, shortly after high school Joe joined the military services where he served 20 yrs in the Army, his first duty station was Fort Riley, KS where he served most of his military career, then was stationed in Fort Benning, GA where he retired at, throughout his career he served many tours in Afghanistan, Saudia Arabia, he was a outstanding soldier. He loves going camping, reading books, hanging out, spending time with family and friends, he also was a jokester but was very blunt and never sugar coat anything he spoke his mind no matter how you felt about it. He always lent a helping hand when he could. Joe is preceded in death by his biological father Joe Nathan Wilkerson and step-father J.T. Williams and 3 brothers J.T. Williams SR, Edgar Williams, Trent Watson, 2 Sisters Tonya Williams, and Grace Watson.

He leaves to cherish his memory, by his lovely wife, Nicole Wilkerson of 18 yrs, his 1 son and 3 daughters Ernest and wife Brittany Thompson, Chavontea and husband Robert Clay, Alexus Wilkerson, China Wilkerson, 2 sisters Renee Taylor, Rashana Williams married to Jamal Williams and 1 brother John Taylor and 6 grandchildren, Nyomie, LaNavia, Sariah, Javon, Aaniyah, BriElla, as his beloved Mother Catherine Taylor and husband John Taylor, Howard Kindred, Crystal Kindred, J.T. Williams, Faye Williams, April Williams, Freddie Williams, Shirley Williams, Mitchell Williams, Donna Williams, Linda Oliver, Sylvester Oliver, Christine Oliver, Angelina Oliver, Trey Watson, Lamkya Wilkerson, Tashia Taylor, Christine Spruance as well as host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandmothers, great grandmothers and friends.
