(Ret) SGM Michael R. Vigil, 69, of Columbus, GA died Sunday, April 11, 2021 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Thursday, April 15, 2021 at Saint Anne Church, according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held 1:00 PM at Ft. Benning Main Post Cemetery. In keeping with the efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19 facemask and social distancing will be required during the services.
Michael was born February 11, 1952 in Pueblo, CO to the late Victor Eliso Vigil and Sarah Trijillo Vigil. Michael served in the U.S. Army for 30 years and retired as a Sergeant Major. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his sister, Olivia Matinzen.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Kyong Ae Vigil of Columbus, GA, children, Elaine Montgomery (Robert) of Harris County, GA, Michael J. Vigil of Atlanta, GA, David V. Vigil (Maria) of Atlanta, GA, Kathy Wilson (Scottie) of Atlanta, GA, siblings, Sylvia Grande of Atlanta, GA Claudine Rissilo of Pueblo, CO, Victor Vigil, Toby Vigil, of Pueblo, CO, Judy Widup of Pueblo, CO, Isabella Valdez of Pueblo, CO, 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
