Retired Master Sergeant Rozell Slaughter, 74, of Columbus, GA passed Tuesday, September 26, 2023, at Orchard View Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, October 4, 2023, in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Florence Tyner officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907. Interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery following the service.

Rozell was born March 28, 1949, in Tuskegee, AL to the late Willie Slaughter and the late Winnie (Watts) Slaughter. He retired from the United States Army after serving 20 years with tours in Saudi Arabia, Germany, Korea, and Vietnam. Rozell loved playing basketball, car racing, playing spades, and was a social butterfly. He was enthusiastic about watching Alabama Crimson Tide Football. Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Willie James Slaughter.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria (Sparks) Slaughter of Columbus, GA. daughters, Valerie (Slaughter) Clark (Keith) of Columbus, GA, Linda Lee of Atlanta, GA, Erika Williams of Newnan, GA, Shavon Mose (Daniel) of Montgomery, AL, brothers, Leroy Slaughter (Barbara) of Union Springs, AL, Lowell Slaughter of Tuskegee, AL, grandchildren, Eboni Williams, Kevin Clark, Leah Clark, Akea Huffman, LaDarion Mayes and Jalen Mayes. He was also loved by numerous nieces, nephews, and host of other relatives and friends.
