Ret. Maj. Charlie Ray Williams, 77, of Midland, GA died Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at St. Francis Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, December 12, 2015 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Gene Boyd officiating. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends after the service at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Charlie was born January 26, 1938 in Hillsboro, TX son of the late Charlie Bass Williams and Athalee Hodge Williams. He graduated from Temple High School in 1956 in Temple, TX and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree from Baylor University in 1960. Charlie also received his Masters in Science in 1980 from Texas A&M, Masters in Education from Georgia State University in 1989 and his GA Real Estate License in 1978. He was an Eagle Scout in 1956.

He taught real estate at Troy State University and sold real estate. He owned a pawn shop in Manchester, GA for 19 years and owned a travel agency in Manchester, GA for 10 years. Charlie served as Councilman in charge of Police and Fire Dept. in 1980 in Waverly Hall, GA.

Charlie retired from the U.S. Army as a Major serving two tours in Vietnam. During his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal, Army Commodation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, 4 Overseas Service bars, Air Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Air Force Reserve Medal, Armed Forces Reserve Medal, and the Vietnam Service Medal with Silver Star.

Charlie loved and was devoted to his kids, grandkids, and great granddaughter. He and his wife, Mary Ann Baggett Williams, were world travelers.

Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Mary Ann Baggett Williams of Midland, GA, daughters, Wendy Williams Powell (William) of Columbus, GA and Vicky Williams Seebach (Rob) of Fortson, GA, brother, Ronald Williams of Dallas, TX, three grandsons, Cameron Seebach, Robert Seebach and Noah Powell, and great granddaughter, Bailey Seebach.
