MSGT (Ret.) William "Bill" Edward McCluskey, Jr., 81, of Pine Mountain Valley, GA died Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at Columbus Hospice House.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907 with Dr. Roy Rodgers officiating. The following will serve as Pallbearers: Steven Ward, David Barton, Joe Watson, James Montgomery, Art Barker, and Bill Stewart. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.
MSGT (Ret.) McCluskey was born September 19, 1934 in Derby, CT son of the late William Edward McCluskey, Sr. and Esther Chilberg McCluskey. He retired from the U.S. Army Veteran as a Master Sergeant. During his time in the Army, he served in Vietnam. He earned his Parachutist Badge, received the Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, National Defense Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 Device, Senior Parachutist Badge, Master Parachutist Badge, Bronze Star Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), Expert Badge (M-16) and 5 Oversea Service Bars.
He later Pastored at Grace Church of the Nazarene. MSGT (Ret.) McClusky was an avid golfer and played over 100 golf courses throughout the U.S. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his loving wife, Barbara E. McCluskey, daughter, Delaine Pritchett (Larry) all of Pine Mountain Valley, GA, brother, C.T. McCluskey (Dot) of Oxford, CT, grandchildren, Charlie Pritchett (Elizabeth) of Pine Mountain Valley, GA and Brian Pritchett (Stacy) of Acworth, GA, and great grandchildren, Olivia Pritchett, Alyssa Pritchett, and Amanda Pritchett.
