MSG (Ret.) E-7 Mack Carter, 94, of Columbus, GA went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Columbus Hospice House.

Funeral services with Masonic orders will be held 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at McMullen Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor John Sheeley officiating. A graveside service will full military honors will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

MSG (Ret.) Carter was born December 10, 1918 in Moselle, MS son of the late Benjamin Franklin Carter and Margarette L. Rainey Carter. He retired from the U.S. Army as a Master Sergeant having served in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a member and deacon of Southside Baptist Church and attended the Main Post Chapel. He was also a member of the Ft. Benning Masonic Lodge 579.

He loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Billie Sue Carter of Columbus, GA, daughters, Brenda McGregor (Scott) of Midland, GA and Karen Hodge (Jeff) of Fortson, GA, sons, Mackey Carter (Dean) of Mauk, GA, Darrell Carter of Forsyth, GA and John Carter of Columbus, GA, 8 grandchildren, Mackey Carter, Jr., Wade Williams, Patrick McGregor, Cathy Lynn Diquattro, Ryan North, Shelby Carter, Lauren Gill and Kaitlyn Gill, and several great grandchildren.

His sons and daughters would like to thank his special friend and caregiver, Susan Bailey.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Gideons International P.O. Box 359 Buena Vista, GA 31803 to purchase Bibles.
