Reginald James Bayona II (Reggie) was a loving father, son, Papa, brother & friend. He passed away on February 19, 2024. Over the course of his 64 years of life, Reggie pursued many passions, made many devoted friends and became family to many loved ones.
His pride and joy were the three children he helped raise, Tiffany, Jennifer and Justin, and his grandson Braxton, as well as many other children and grandchildren he gained through his two marriages and his nieces and nephews.
He was particularly proud of the fact he taught all three of his children to change a tire, drive a stick shift and balance a budget. With his grandson, he was much more focused on the lighter things of life, including giving lawnmower rides, playing with compressed air in his shop and lots and lots of wrestling (also losing terribly at Uno).
Reggie was an eternal Boy Scout, becoming an Eagle Scout of Troop 53 of Columbus, Georgia, who continue to still get together today. He invested in the lives of many scouts over the years as a troop leader. He loved spending time outdoors hiking, camping, kayaking, and fishing with family and friends and was known for teaching many in the next generation (nieces, nephews, his children’s friends) to enjoy the outdoors also. He was a talented woodworker, who enjoyed making beautiful, personalized gifts for others, including walking sticks, canes, signs and mounted dragons.
Reggie was a proud graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), where he met his lifelong band of brothers that were a consistent source of support, fun, camaraderie and laughter over the decades.
He was an avid supporter of the University of Georgia and made it a point to spend his fall Saturdays watching his beloved bulldogs.
Though he battled Parkinson’s bravely later in life, he was encouraged by his faith and is now fully whole and healed in the presence of the Lord.
He is survived by his children Tiffany Anderson (Kyle), Jennifer Khouli (Gabe) and Justin Costa (Jake), grandson Braxton, mother Maria Leticia Ferrar Bayona, sisters Agnes Grimes (Earnie), Janet Sheldon, Laura Flatt (Warren), brother Joe Bayona, numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews, as well as the many other children and grandchildren he gained and loved through his two marriages.
There will be an informal memorial to honor him in the visitation room of McMullen Funeral Home in Columbus, Saturday, March 2nd at 2:00 pm.
