Ray Edward Bone, 93 of Columbus passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at Muscogee Manor Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held 3 P.M., Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Wynnbrook Baptist Church with Rev. Joseph Jimmerson and Dr. Kevin Calhoun officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 4 till 6 P.M. at McMullen Funeral Home, 3874 Gentian Blvd., Columbus, GA. A private interment will be held at Parkhill Cemetery.
Ray Edward Bone, one of the eleven children of Frank Harris and Maybel Locke Bone, was born in Taylor County, GA on April 26, 1918 where he attended local schools. In May of 1941 he married a childhood schoolmate, Mary Elizabeth Hollis. Later he and Mary moved to Columbus where he became partners with his brothers in the Valley Produce Company, retiring after over 40 years in business. He unselfishly gave his time and money to his church during his memberships at Wynnton Baptist Church, First Baptist Church and Wynnbrook Baptist Church serving as a Sunday School teacher, deacon and Sunday School Superintendent.
He loved visiting friends and family and was always ready to lend a helping hand. He tried to be a good father, a good son and a supportive brother, uncle, grandfather â
