Raul Munoz

Raul Munoz, 73, of Columbus, GA passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 18, 2022 at his residence with his loving wife by his side.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, August 26, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory. A graveside service will be held 1:00 PM EST Friday, August 26, 2022 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, August 25, 2022 at McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Raul was born on January 16, 1949 in New York City, NY to the late Raul and Maria Munoz.  He graduated with a Bachelors of Science from New Hampshire College. He served in the U.S. Air Force where he volunteered for Vietnam and served in the Red Horse Squadron.  He then joined the U.S. Army where he continued to serve his country honorably until his retirement.

Raul loved people and experiences.  He was a student of life, and an avid follower of current events.  He loved sports.  He attended many Atlanta Braves games to watch the New York Mets.  As a young man he even participated in a New York Yankees open tryout.  He ran track in high school and continued his love of running throughout his life.  He enjoyed history and Greek mythology which led to his love of science fiction.

He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years Josephine Munoz; two daughters, Patricia Duke and Rebecca Albritton (Stephen), and grandchildren, Chance Monteiro, Alanna Duke, Donovan Duke, Ayden Albritton, and Beau Albritton.
