Randolph John "Randy" Schmidt, 63, of Columbus, Ga. died Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at St. Francis Hospital.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 2:00 PM Monday, February 24, 2020 at The Church of the Holy Family 320 12th Street Columbus, Ga. 31901 with Rev. Father Daniel O'Connell officiating. Interment will be held in Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday, February 23, 2020 from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Immediately following the visitation a Rosary Prayer Service will begin at 6:00 PM according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus.
Randy was born September 13, 1956 in Chicago, IL son of the late Johann and Theresia Fix Schmidt. He was the Chief Operating Officer for Allen Development Group, a member of The Church of the Holy Family and was an avid fan of all Chicago sports especially the Chicago Cubs.
Randy loved to cook and travel and always enjoyed picking out the best restaurants for his family. His passion was spending time with his family especially his loving granddaughter Ella.
Other than his parents, Randy was preceded in death by his brother-in-law Dennis Keasling.
Survivors include his loving wife Rozalia Schmidt of Columbus, Ga., daughter, Jackie Rutz and husband Ryan of Columbus, Ga., son, Jonathan Schmidt of Columbus, Ga., sister, Inge Keasling of Hilton Head Island, SC., granddaughter, Ella Rose Rutz of Columbus, Ga. and several nieces and nephews.
Flowers will be accepted, those so desiring may make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association 5156 River Road Columbus, Ga. 31904.
