Ralph Waldo Emerson Murphy, Jr., 95, of Columbus, GA died Monday, July 13, 2020 at Columbus hospice house in Columbus, GA.
To respect the wishes of the family, there will be no services or gatherings at this time due to the Covid-19 Pandemic according to McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Ralph was born November 19, 1924 in Buckhead, GA to the late Ralph Waldo Murphy, Sr. and Eunice English Murphy. Ralph was an accountant for the U.S. Postal Service and served in the Navy.
He was a Mason and a Shriner. He was an active member of the Alcazar Temple Phenix City Shrine Club where he was a member of the Clown Squad, which he enjoyed so very much. He was also active in the transportation of children to the various Shrine Children's Hospitals for their needs.
Ralph was a devoted Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan. He loved watching the games.
He is survived by his wife LeMerle Williamson Murphy and daughter Sue Ellen Burgess (Stan) of Columbus, GA. 5 grandchildren, Ashleigh Burgess Smith (Noah), Sloan Burgess (Ashley) of Salem, AL, Kyle Burgess Norris (Chad) of Columbus, GA, Caitlyn Burgess Gallops(Corey) of Hamilton, GA. , Nancy Nowell Meunier(Jeremy) of Texarkana, TX . 4 great children, Avery and Caroline Norris, Hunter Gallops and Lawson Smith.
