Priscilla Elaine Strickland, 72, of Columbus, Georgia died Thursday, November 3, 2022 at Piedmont Midtown Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, November 12, 2022 in the chapel of McMullen Funeral Home and Crematory with Paulette Richmond officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.
Priscilla Elaine Strickland was born June 2, 1950 in Battle Creek Michigan to the late Sergeant George Webster Strickland Jr. and Dorothy Jean Strickland. She was affectionately known by her family and friends as “Deanie”. She lived life to its fullest. She enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and members of Soka Gakkai International USA. She enjoyed making memories at family gatherings and was known for lighting up the room or event with her dance moves and love of music.
Priscilla attended Baker High School. Her love for children, lead her to work for Head Start Enrichment Services of Muscogee County. Professionally, she received certifications in Food Safety Services. She was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in Head Start former meritorious achievement while serving on the Rosemont staff. Priscilla was also awarded appreciation from the Enrichment Services Program. At the time of her retirement, she was the lead food service worker at Head Start Rosewood location. Priscilla was committed to the membership of Soka Gakkai International. She was awarded the Distinguished Pioneer of American Kosen-rufu Award in 2009.
Survived to cherish her memories are her sister Pauline L. Cobb (Eric) from Columbus, Georgia, brother, Johnny W. Strickland (Nara) of Mebane, NC, brother-in-law, Henry Cobb, nieces, Keysha (Cedric Sr.), Darnisha, nephew, Henry Cobb, II of Columbus, Georgia, nieces, Brook, Hannah and Victoria all of Mebane, NC, great nieces, Ariana, Sentoria, Abriel and Azari, great nephews, Henry, Donnie, Cordell, and Cedric, Jr. all of Columbus, Georgia. Extended families that will share her memories include her Aunt, Mary Dinkins (late Uncle Ben Dinkins), Cousin, Alan Dinkins (Valerie) of Fairfax, Virginia, special friend, Bernice and a host of cousins, other family members and friends.
